Week of December 16 - 20, 2024
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
–Oprah Winfrey
Exam week. Oh how I hate it. Anyway, next week is the first Week of Winter break! We are sad to announce that the KNN will be going on a short hiatus over break to let our viewers and staff enjoy the break accordingly. But don’t think we won’t be releasing some holiday specials!
We hope everyone has had a good test week. If your exams didn’t go too well, we hope you enjoyed the early dismissal. This week, we will be kicking off Winter break with our columnists’ stories about their holidays! Enjoy!

Resolutions, Am I Right? *Cheers and Applause Ensue*
Have you ever done a New Year's Resolution? I sure haven’t. I mean what's the point? “Old habits die hard” is a saying for a reason. So why should I care? Maybe I want to improve myself, but why wait for this random time? For me, a student, the best time to reinvent my behavior would be in the obvious divider between my school years, and summer break. Many share a similar opinion, why wait to improve yourself then when you can start now? Self-improvement is a hiking trail, long, rough, winding, and you might get a few bug bites. Just keep going, and try not to get lost, this is why we bring maps people, and sit down and rest every once and a while. Speaking of maps, you need to plan this out. Do not just say you are going to increase the amount of time you do an arbitrary thing, actually plan out at least a week of practice for your new personality attribute, then plan the next one after figuring out the flaws with the first week. Perfect the practice, or hate it forever. That is my life advice.
Historical Proof of Christians Plagiarizing Everyone
Saturnalia was a winter festival carried out by the Romans to celebrate the solstice and the return to longer days. It was in honor of Saturn, or Kronos for all you die-hard Greeks, and was typically celebrated on December 17th, but was eventually expanded into a 3-day event going into the 19th. They sacrificed a pig to Saturn, who was a harvest god and would party. This party would generally involve playing games, exchanging gifts, lighting candles, singing, sharing tales, eating, and drinking a lot. They would also decorate their homes with wreaths and evergreen plants. Now, does this bear any striking resemblances to a certain holiday? Indeed we all know that Christmas is supposed to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but aside from the fact that many agree that he was born between 6-4 BC, the bible and early Christians did not celebrate his birth on December 25th. So clearly, to get back at their Roman persecutors, they stole their beloved winter holiday and used it for their Christian whimsies, which is a generally supported fact by historians. Everything you know is a lie, be sure to file this complaint with either the Pope or God, whichever is easiest.

One of the main things people do around these days of December is celebrate a holiday according to their religion or even do some traditions relevant to these days. Personally, I’m a person who celebrates Christstan holidays, meaning I celebrate Christmas during these upcoming weeks.
Normally, this time of year is commonly misunderstood, as one of the main reasons for these holidays and celebrations is just grouping up the people you know and actually like enough. Others say it’s all about the presents and gifts you can get, and I say that sounds like my brother (hehe)
I’ll end this column right there, as I do want to wish you all an enjoyable break and that you don't say anything uncalled for in front of that one relative (we all know who we’re talking about).
Enjoy your break you people.
