Week of January 27 - 31, 2025
“Wisdom shared is knowledge multiplied.”
- SpiritVibesTik
Spirituality is one way everyone in the world can be tied together. Spirituality means knowing that our lives have significance in a context beyond a mundane everyday existence at the level of biological needs that drive selfishness and aggression. Some people find their spirituality in religion, others find it in everyday tasks and objects, some don’t care to find it at all, and that's okay. This week we focus on what spirituality means and different ways to find it.
We also have new columnist applications open, so go apply dear readers, and have a wonderful week!

Advice from a Potential Peer
So, you want to be a KNN Columnist. Or you might not, I don’t know your passions. But for this hypothetical pretend you do. So, you are here to learn about what this job entails, well you came to the right place. As one of the founding members of the KNN, and having written the very first article of the week, I have some experience in this matter. But enough about me, why do you want to join the KNN? Perhaps it is to flex your writing skills and feel part of a greater whole, even as a side gig. Whatever the case you have to know why. If you don’t, then why join? Purposeless work is meaningless for a reason. You need to define who you wish to be while a member of this team. And even then, can you handle the stress that comes with the job? Each week I am given the theme for that week’s paper and have to supply the columns with enough time to spare for our founder, CEO, and editor-in-chief, Keira, to format it into the paper. Some weeks are better than others, some weeks I have more time than others, and each week without fail I have supplied my columns to this glorious paper. Do you have the self-discipline to handle this task? Each week in and each week outcomes with different challenges, ideas, and columns to write. If you cannot hold yourself to a consistent standard, you fall below par and will bring the paper itself down. To be a member of this great news network is to always strive for your best, and to always work hard. That is what you need to become a member of the KNN.
Et Tu, Astrology
Astrology as a base concept has existed as long as the idea of humans looking up at the night sky has. So basically all of human existence. Some of our first known zodiac calendars are from ancient Babylon, which for all you non-history folks, existed about 5000 years ago. It's insane how long astrology stretches back and how universal it is. Almost every belief system in the world made a point to follow a calendar of the year through the stars. And as humans do, we started assigning myths to them. While Babylon is the precursor of the generally agreed upon designations, Ancient Greece is where everything becomes very close to its modern counterparts. For all those not very aware of the workings of an astrological calendar, here it is: Aries is the beginning of the calendar, which then goes onto Taraus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and finally ends with Pisces. If you are still confused about specifics, I implore you to do some research further. Along with the major zodiac, there are a ton of other constellations that make up our night sky because, I don’t know if you know this, there are a lot of stars up there. And on top of all these, we have to think of what the moon has to say or the various planets circling in retrograde or whatever. Needless to say, it's a mess, created by centuries upon centuries of misinformation about how space works. And on top of all of this, it makes sense why people would care. The stars themselves seem incredibly important on a scale such as ours. And so when religion forms around them and spreads across the world over, people care a lot about what they think the stars are telling them. What could have been an outdated concept that people only did for fun, has become an outdated concept that people truly and deeply believe in. And if they aren't doing any harm, should we stop them? Maybe if they dump you for being a Scorpio we should. Needless to say, If it makes you happy, and feel better about our insignificant place in the universe, I implore you to go for it! But if you do mix up Astrology and Astronomy, I will dump you for being a Scorpio.

You know, astrology (like zodiac signs and such) used to be a main part of how I lived my life in 7th grade. I was heavily obsessed with it, and I practically memorized every chart, every sign, and every little fact. I did… a lot of research on this one topic
Of course, now being more distant to the topic, I don’t know as much about it and forgot most of the little facts I used to know.
I’ve known and still know, several people who like astrology as well and cooperated with me in 7th grade on the star positions and such. Some people go so far as to relate astrology to their love life and friendships.
But you know, at the end of the day, looking back at where I came from- I’m glad that I was able to make it far enough to where I can write for the KNN. And you know, a small little birdie told me that the big ‘dude’ running this whole thing is splitting my page in half and they’re taking forms for a new columnist. Any of you readers wanting to split a page with this weirdo? Feel free to put an application into the form listed on the second page to see if you can make an epic intro like me!
